Researchers from Nanyang Technical University, Singapore, have developed a way touch can be sent over the internet so people will be able to communicate more fully with loved ones, pets and children in future.
Researcher James Teh, who has worked on the project for two years, said: "I wanted to come up with something novel and this is important because people tend to focus heavily on human to human interact."
The research team are working on wireless pyjamas for children to wear and similar suits for parents so a good night hug can take place even if the parent is thousands of miles away.
