Kampmann won the CWFC Title back in July when he defeated Matt Ewin for a 2nd time at Strike Force 2. Kampmann also has a series of impressive wins which is highlighted by a stunning KO victory against the American Brendan Seguin at KOTC UK and several other impressive wins on the EVT circuit.
Originally Damien Riccio was due to fight Ewin for the Title at Strike Force 2 but pulled out due to injury which allowed Kampmann to take his Title shot. Now the favour is being repaid as Riccio looks to end a disappointing year (by his standards) and snap out of a dismal run of form by claiming the CWFC Title at the Night of Champions.
However Riccio feels as if he should already be the champion, as back at Strike Force 1 he fought Matt Ewin and felt he got a stoppage win in a fight that was marred by a series of cuts and accusations by both sides, which ultimately resulted in the fight being declared a no-contest.
