In "Ju-On: The Grudge" (remade last year by Hollywood as "The Grudge"), a pasty-faced little boy scared the bejeezus out of a live-in nurse. And "Ringu" (remade as "The Ring") offered a young girl crawling out of wells, TV screens and anything else sort of ooky.
"Pulse," getting an exclusive engagement at the E Street Cinema although it's four years old, has elements from both. Instead of a TV, weird images appear on a computer screen, and a spooky kid ghost shows up in addition to a whole host of other supernatural folk‚ but the shadowy images, hokey dialogue and low-budget camera work limit the fright factor.
