Taiwan-based Kye Systems, a leading maker of computer mice, keyboards, speakers and webcams, expects its consolidated revenues to climb 30% sequentially in the third quarter after seeing its second-quarter revenues drop 3.7% sequentially to NT$2.74 billion (US$84 million), according to company sources.
Despite a decline in revenues, the company's pre-tax profit of NT$185 million for the second quarter was equal to the amount it had earned in the first quarter, bringing the company's pre-tax profits for the first half to NT$370 million, up 50% on year, the sources indicated.
In addition, with recent orders for webcams from Taiwan-based notebook makers and vendors, including Quanta Computer, Compal Electronics, Acer and Asustek Computer, Kye is expected to become the world's second largest webcam supplier, rising from its current third-place ranking, the sources noted.
The company recently incorporated Bluetooth wireless technology into a wide range of its products, including headsets, speakers and keyboards, the sources indicated, who stressed that the new products will help the company increase its gross margins.
